There have been lots of rumors regarding an upcoming 7-inch Nvidia tablet, and the wait is finally over. The new slate is called Tegra Note and is naturally powered by a native Tegra 4 processor.

Nvidia claims this is one fast tablet, possibly “the world's fastest 7-inch tablet” and with features like a 72-core GeForce GPU and quad-core Cortex-A15 CPU, it might just all be true.

The slate's IPS display features a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, a 5MP rear camera capable of 100 fps video playback, a VGA camera, 16 GB of memory plus a microSD card slot.

The official press releass points out that the Tegra Note tablet is entirely produced by NVIDIA.

“It's a complete tablet platform, designed by NVIDIA and brought to market by our partners. It embodies the NVIDIA brand – from our hardware and software (right down to OTA updates), to our industrial design, accessories and network of partners in game development.”

Remember how Nvidia teased the DirectStylus technology back in June at Computex? Now new tablet is going to support it, thus transforming writing into a finer and more precise experience.

Battery life is said to be extended for up to 10 hours of HD video streaming. The Note will feature a yet unknown version of Android (possibly 4.3).

The Tegra Note will certainly appeal to gamers as well, providing full access to the Nvidia TegraZone where users can play games featuring visual effects unseen before on other slates. More than that, the Note can morph into a game controller by virtue of its in-built Bluetooth connection.

In order to avoid battery drainage, lower-power maneuvers in the Note will be taken up by a fifth battery-saver (called a “ninja”).

The tablet can be arranged to stand in three different position thanks to its smart sliding cover which was design to support the tablet.

The company said that the Tegra Note would be ready to ship as soon as next month for the affordable price of $199 / €149.

The slate will become available via Nvidia partners like EVGA and PNY Technologies in the US, EBGA, Oysters and ZOTAC in Europe, Colorful, Shenzhen Homecare Technology and ZOTAC in Asia-Pacific and XOLO in India.
