Mobile computers come in many shapes and sizes, from entry-level PCs incapable of more than just basic document and web viewing, to machines that have higher capabilities than even certain enthusiast-grade desktops. Eurocom appears to have a penchant for the latter, as is obvious from the various high-end notebooks it unveiled up to now. The two most recent ones were launched just a short while ago and combine the abilities of Intel Core central processing units (CPUs) with that of NVIDIA graphics.

Eurocom unleashed two new addition to its Fox series, the 15.6-inch B5100M and the 17.3-inch B7110. Both of them have comparable performance and a feature set most suited for any type of multimedia or gaming task. For one, they run on an Intel Core i3, Core i5 or Core i7 central processing unit, depending on user preference, and come with a fairly large memory capacity of up to a strong 16 GB. Furthermore, a maximum of 1.6 TB of storage is available.

The other major asset of the machines is their use of the NVIDIA Optimus technology, which can dynamically switch between the integrated and discrete graphics, depending on application load. As such, the laptops will use the CPU graphics for most basic tasks and immediately cross over to the GeForce GT 330M (1GB) when needed. As for connectivity and I/O, Eurocom threw in the full set of LAN and wireless option, plus HDMI, a DVD or Blu-ray drive and a 1.3 megapixel webcam and a 6-cell battery.

For those that want a more direct control over the behavior of their laptop, Eurocom implemented the possibility of switching between the Optimus mode and the UMA mode. The former allow for switching, whereas the latter prevents the discrete card from being used altogether. Shipments have already started, and consumers may order the 15.6-inch B5100M for $999 and the 17.3-inch B7110 for $1,199.
