The newly released graphics driver provides support for two additional extensions

NVIDIA has made available a new graphics driver developed for its GeForce and Quadro cards, namely version 340.82 beta, which provides beta support for OpenGL 4.5 and GLSL 4.50 on compatible hardware configurations.

In addition to that, in order to work properly, the system must also contain a Fermi, Kepler, or Maxwell-based graphics processing unit.

As for the compatible operating systems, version 340.82 beta can be applied on both 32- and 64-bit architectures of Microsoft’s Windows XP, Vista, 7, and 8 platforms.

Moreover, bear in mind that Windows 8.1 isn’t specified as a supported OS, therefore we don’t recommend installing this release on platforms other than the aforementioned ones even if there is a possibility that the driver might actually work.

When it comes to changes, besides the already supported OpenGL and ARB extensions, this new release can now make use of two more, namely “EXT_polygon_offset_clamp” and “NV_uniform_buffer_unified_memory.”

That being said, if you intend to benefit from these changes, then save and run the appropriate downloadable package for your system configuration, and follow the on-screen instructions for a complete installation.

Last but not least, it would be best to manually reboot the computer, or allow the wizard to automatically perform this task if requested, in order to make sure that all changes take effect properly.

With this in mind, download NVIDIA OpenGL 4.5 Graphics Driver 340.82 Beta for the appropriate OS and bit variant, take into account all above-described aspects, and update your graphics chipset to the latest version.
