No longer shall Linux owners have to reverse-engineer the drivers

It was about time NVIDIA finally caved and joined the Linux Foundation, seeing as how the open-source operating system really is thriving.

The three other companies that joined the consortium at the same time as the Sunnyvale corporation are Fluendo, Lineo and Mocana.

"NVIDIA is strongly committed to enabling world-class experiences and innovation with our GPU and mobile products,”said Scott Pritchett, VP of Linux Platform Software at NVIDIA.

“Membership in The Linux Foundation will accelerate our collaboration with the organizations and individuals instrumental in shaping the future of Linux, enabling a great experience for users and developers of Linux."

Unfortunately, there was a distinct lack of mention of when and where the company would begin to make drivers for Linux.

It didn't even commit to this, really, though we don't mind risking a hope for it.
