It will have a 6-pin power plug and $200 / €163 price

The GeForce GTX 960, the first borderline mainstream graphics card based on NVIDIA's Maxwell GPU architecture, has finally received a launch date.

It's not confirmed, but a report published by GDM.OR.JP says the adapter will debut on January 22, 2015.

Only two other details about the video board were mentioned: that the GeForce GTX 960 would have a power draw of 150W (deduced from the use of a single 6-pin connector) and that it would have a price of just $210 / €163 or so.

The price could still turn up a bit different, since our figure results from converting the 25,000 Japanese Yen via exchange rates. In any event, AMD's sub-$250 / €204 will be disrupted severely if this proves true.

Currently, AMD's Radeon R9 285, 280X, and even some 290 are sold for that much, and the GTX 960 could be just as good or better.

Previous reports cite the GM206 as the likeliest GPU powering the video board, but the latest report didn't go into that. Preliminary clock speeds are said to be of 993/1050 MHz, and memory could be of 3 GB or 4 GB (6 GHz), with a bandwidth of 192 GB/s.

I'll be sure to keep you up to date whenever some new information crops up.
