Having had already released a, more or less, full range of graphics products for the mobile laptop market, NVIDIA is now working on finishing the GTS 450, the card that appears poised to pick up the mantle of the GTS 250, the popular card that has been holding the line, or trying to, on the sub-$160 market.

After many months when Advanced Micro Devices was the sole supplier of DirectX 11 video solutions, NVIDIA Finally released the Fermi products.

The most recent announcement saw the arrival of the 400M series of mobile GPUs which, according to NVIDIA, will enable it to once again take the lead.

Now, reports have arisen detailing another upcoming product, the GeForce GTS 450 desktop card.

Among other things, this model should be able to handle gameplay of the latest DirectX 11 titles at resolutions of 1,680 x 1,050 with 4xAA.

For the most part, this SKU will take the place of the GTS 250 and should prove most lucrative inside LAN Party systems, though it will pull its weight in any desktop.

For those interested in numbers, the GTS 450 will have the GPU running at 783 MHz, while its shader and memory clocks will be of 1,566 MHz and 900 MHz, respectively.

Only one 6-pin PCI Express power input will be required, as the power draw will be just two thirds of what the GTX 460 consumes, and the 1Gb of memory will have a 128-bit memory interface.

Furthermore, in terms of design, the cooler shroud and fan appear quite similar to those of the GeForce GTS 460.

Overall, this product should face the ATI Radein HD 5700 series, which means that its initial price may suffer some changes depending on how it fares against them. Unfortunately, an exact figure has not been made public.
