Two weeks after the release of the GeForce 181.21 Drivers, which added support for the highly-anticipated GeForce GTX 285 and GTX 295 graphics cards, NVIDIA has just updated its support with the addition of the new GeForce Drivers, Release 181.22. They are WHQL-certified and provide users of NVIDIA's GeForce graphics cards with support for some of the latest gaming applications, including the new EA title, Mirror's Edge, one of the highest-anticipated game titles this year.

As expected, the new NVIDIA GeForce drivers add support for the company's GeForce 6, 7, 8, 9 and 200-series of GPUs, which means that almost every NVIDIA user out there will likely take advantage of the benefits provided by the new drivers. Aside from the support provided for EA's Mirror's Edge, the driver package automatically installs the new PhysX System Software version 9.00.0010. This will boost the overall performance of the system, especially in games that are designed to take advantage of NVIDIA's PhysX technology. In addition, the new release adds specific bug fixes, which can be found in the documentation notes available at the company's website.

Users of the new GeForce GTX 285 or GTX 295 graphics cards will require the support provided by NVIDIA's GeForce 181 drivers, which also enable SLI technology, for multi-graphics setups on SLI-certified Intel X58-based motherboards. Users will also be able to enable PhysX acceleration on a dedicated GeForce graphics card, as long as it is a GeForce 8-series or above model and comes with a minimum of 256MB of dedicated graphics memory.

When compared with the Release 178 drivers, the new NVIDIA GeForce drivers provide additional performance boost in certain games and benchmark applications. Users should see these performance increases:

Up to 10% performance increase in 3DMark Vantage (performance preset);

Up to 13% performance increase in Assassin's Creed;

Up to 13% performance increase in BioShock;

Up to 15% performance increase in Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts;

Up to 10% performance increase in Crysis Warhead;

Up to 25% performance increase in Devil May Cry 4;

Up to 38% performance increase in Far Cry 2;

Up to 18% performance increase in Race Driver: GRID;

Up to 80% performance increase in Lost Planet: Colonies;

Up to 18% performance increase in World of Conflict.
