This is how those two games happen to run so much better on its cards than AMD

Both NVIDIA and Advanced Micro Devices have graphics cards of similar potential, but that doesn't mean they behave the same in all games. Here is the main reason why: special optimizations.

Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed 5 and Watch Dogs will run better on NVIDIA adapters than AMD because NVIDIA reportedly spent $5 million / €3.7 million to optimize those titles on its GeForce architecture.

The optimizations extend to all resolutions, although NVIDIA seems to put special emphasis on the 4K mode (UHD resolution, 3840 x 2560 pixels), even though rarely, if ever, will people actually play in that quality.

Then again, 4K is the current fad, so it makes sense that NVIDIA would place such importance on it.

Anyway, NVIDIA spent those millions to make sure those games ran well on its cards, just like AMD sealed a similar deal with DICE and Electronic Arts for Battlefield 4.
