Following reports regarding an upcoming Radeon graphics card, the dual-GPU HD 5870X2, details on a future NVIDIA GeFore card have also been leaked on the Internet. However, this time around we are talking about a product that is on the other side of the performance bar, as this GeForce card will be targeted at the entry-level market segment, offering a low level of performance. Still, the card, which will be dubbed GT218, does provide some interesting features, including NVIDIA’s first 40nm GPU.

Vr-Zone managed to score a drawing of what is claimed to be NVIDIA’s first GeForce graphics card built using the 40nm process technology. The drawing should provide some clues as to how the company’s upcoming entry-level card will look like. In addition, the fellows over at Vr-Zone also managed to provide some of the card’s technical specifications, so we should pretty much know what to expect, as far as performance is concerned.

Apparently, there will be at least 4 SKUs on different PCB designs and the card will be featured with a core speed of 550MHz, while the Shader clock is rated at 1375MHz. The GT218 will be featured with 512MB of DDR3 memory, clocked at 800MHz, and will work on a 64-bit memory interface, according to the details provided by Vr-Zone. The card will support dual-link DVI, DisplayPort and VGA. It is believed that NVIDIA will be showcasing samples of the card at the upcoming CeBIT show, held between March 3 and 8 in Hanover, Germany. The card will later be launched sometime in April, but there are no details regarding an estimated price tag yet.

It will be interesting to see which of the two giant manufacturers will be ready with the first 40nm-based graphics card lineup, as both NVIDIA and AMD are now expected to launch products based on the aforementioned process technology.
