The company has to pay $1.8 million / €1.37 million, give or take

Looks like NVIDIA might post a loss at the end of this quarter or the next, since it needs to cough up almost $2 million (€1.51 million).

NVIDIA has just settled a drawn-out class action lawsuit in Canada, just like it signed a settlement in the US a while ago.

Years back, NVIDIA's notebook GPUs began to fail at an abnormal rate due to a manufacturing defect.

The company was sued for it and, after settling in the US, it is now settling in Canada as well.

It needs to pay $1.8 million / €1.37 million for the benefit of whoever bought an "Affected Computer" and experienced a "Qualifying Symptom."

And by qualifying symptoms, I mean one of the following:

- Distorted or scrambled video on the computer screen - No video on the screen even when the computer is on - Random characters, lines, or garbled images on the computer screen - Intermittent video issues - Failure to detect wireless adapter or wireless networks

A court hearing for the approval of the settlement has been scheduled for September.
