NVIDIA Announces 3D Vision for an Enhanced Visual Experience at Home

NVIDIA, the Santa Clara, California-based graphics chip maker, has announced today, at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, the world's first high-definition 3D stereo solution for home users. With the launch, the company is introducing a new product, designed to take advantage of its high-performance desktop graphics cards. Simply dubbed 3D Vision for GeForce, this release will provide gaming and multimedia enthusiasts with a new interaction tool, which is likely to change their perspective on any visual computing experience.

“For gamers, 3D Vision for GeForce represents a whole different way of experiencing the game, and for developers, it unlocks the potential of making the game literally pop off the screen,” said Ujesh Desai, vice president of GeForce desktop business at NVIDIA. “From games to movies to photography, 3D Vision delivers a truly immersive awesome 3D experience.”

NVIDIA's new product is part of a package that will provide its users with a pair of high-tech wireless glasses, a high-power IR emitter and advanced software, which combined will enable users to deal with a new level of visual experience for both gaming and high-definition multimedia. The package is designed to support the newest 120Hz LCD monitors from Samsung and Viewsonic, as well as Mitsubishi's DLP HDTVs and DepthQ HD 3D Projector, designed by Lightspeed Design. The solution is expected to provide a new level of crystal-clear, flicker-free 3D stereo imagery for home users.

PC users in the US will be the first to take advantage of NVIDIA's latest product, as 3D Vision is now available at e-tailers such as compusa, tigerdirect or microcenter, or directly from the company's website. The manufacturer's suggested retail price is US$199.
