NVIDIA has just announced the immediate availability for download of a new Beta version of its graphics driver for Linux operating systems, 334.16.

The new Linux display driver, 334.16 Beta, comes with a lot of fixes, new features, and overall changes that really merit an upgrade.

It's been quite a while since the latest NVIDIA drivers update, especially for the Beta branch, but the new driver is here now and it's ready for download.

Highlights of NVIDIA 334.16 Beta Linux driver:

• A bug that could cause nvidia-settings to compute incorrect gamma ramps when adjusting the color correction sliders has been fixed; • The nvidia-settings control panel has been updated in order to allow the selection of display devices using RandR and target ID names when making queries targeted towards specific display devices; • A bug that prevented some dropdown menus in the nvidia-settings control panel from working correctly on older versions of GTK+ (e.g. 2.10.x) has been fixed; • The nvidia-settings control panel has been updated to provide help text for application profile keys and suggestions for valid key names when configuring application profiles; • A bug that could cause applications using the OpenGL extension ARB_query_buffer_object to crash under Xinerama has been fixed; • A bug that caused high pixelclock HDMI modes (e.g. as used with 4K resolutions) to be erroneously reported as dual-link in the nvidia-settings control panel has been fixed; • 64-bit EGL and OpenGL ES libraries have been added to 64-bit driver packages; • The NVIDIA X driver has been updated in order to load the NVIDIA kernel module using"nvidia-modprobe" rather than the XFree86 DDX helper function xf86LoadKernelModule().
