NVIDIA has just announced the immediate availability for download of a new stable version of its graphics driver for Linux operating systems, 331.49.

The new Linux display driver, 334.16, has been released mostly to provide support for the new GeForce GT 710 and GeForce 825M, but it also features a number of fixes.

Highlights of NVIDIA 331.49 Linux driver:

• A regression that prevented nvidia-installer from cleaning up directories created as part of the driver installation has been fixed; • A new X configuration option "InbandStereoSignaling" to enable/disable DisplayPort in-band stereo signaling has been added; • A bug that caused PBO downloads of cube map faces to retrieve incorrect data has been corrected; • A bug in nvidia-installer that resulted in spurious error messages when opting out of installing the NVIDIA kernel module or source files for the kernel module has been fixed.
