NTT West Launched "Hikari Personal Phone"

The Japanese company NTT West will introduce a new phone called the "Hikari Personal Phone", starting this week.

The WI-100HC is an 802.11b standard wireless LAN phone that supports NTT West Japan's "Hikari Phone" IP
phone service that utilizes the 0AB~J numbers. Users can have multiple phone numbers on a single line, and multiple phone numbers can be used simultaneously. Data transfer to a PC can be performed via HPP's USB 2.0 port.

The phone's specifications are the same as the product released by NTT East Japan in November 2005, and it supports the Hikari Phone optional services, "Multiple Channel" and "Added Number (My Number)". Other functions of the phone include the ability to transfer device settings and user's mobile phone's address book via the USB 2.0 port. The HPP measures 43 x 20 x 130mm, weighs 102g, stores up to 300 phonebook entries, and offers a continuous talk time of 3 hours and 55 hours of standby time.

According to NTT West Japan, sales of 1,000 handsets are expected for this year.
