NTT DoCoMo Launched the 702i Series

NTT DoCoMo announced recently the release of the new 702i Series of 3G FOMA handsets.

The 702i Series consists of five models - SH702iD, N702iD, F702iD, D702i and P702i. The 702i series are equipped for i-channel, which automatically delivers updated news, weather, entertainment, sports and horoscopes via teletype to the standby screen. All the models in the series are preinstalled with G-GUIDE EPG Remote Control, an i-application
that downloads program listings for both terrestrial digital and analog TV broadcasts. Using the phone like a remote control, the information can be used to program DVD recorders and other A/V equipment.

The first device in the series, SH702iD weighs 89g and measures 94x45x19.6mm. It has a 2 inch CGS liquid crystal QVGA screen, a MiniSD port and a 1.3MP camera.

The N702iD weighs 112g and measures 98 x 48 x 18.7mm, it has an OLED screen on the outside, a 2.3 inch QVGA screen on the inside and a 1.23MP camera.

The F702iD weighs 114g and measures 98 x 51 x 31mm, has an "Organic Design" with a form that is adapted to the shape of the human hand, and it also has a biometric reader as well as a SUICA payment card, a PDF viewer, a port to connect it to the USB port on a PC and a 1.23MP camera.

The D702i weighs 110g, measures 130 x 47 x 16.7mm and has a 2.0 inch QVGA screen and a 1.31MP camera.

The last handset of the series, the P702i weighs 98g and measures 102 x 49 x 22mm, has a 2.2 inch QVGA screen, it is MP3 compatible and also has a MiniSD slot and a 1.23MP camera.

Unfortunately, there is no word that these new handsets will ever reach the American soil.
