During March, mobile operator NTT DoCoMo had announced that it was planning to release a new FOMA handset that was developed with Stefano Giovannoni, an award-winning designer.

Since then, more information was revealed, and it looks like the N904i will be officially unveiled during Milan's celebrated Design Week.

While the phone will be presented in Milano, Italy, this doesn't mean that it will be available in Europe. Which makes you wonder why they'd present a mobile phone that only works in Asian countries, at a European event anyway. Thus, European customers will get to see and try out the phone, but most likely never be able to own one.

More details regarding the handset have also been revealed and it looks like it will become available in four color versions, including Orange Cut, Day and Night, Urban Blue and Pink Soda.

Features will include GPS capabilities, HSDPA and a 2.8 inch color screen with a WQVGA resolution and a wide variety of custom colorful wallpapers and themes to choose from. Its designer, Stefano Giovannoni (who is perhaps the reason why the phone is getting unveiled in Italy) has worked with world-famous companies such as Alessi, Fiat and Siemens.

In this case, the new handset is the result of a collaboration between Giovannoni, NEC Corporation and mobile operator NTT DoCoMo. Aside from the phone, Giovannoni has even designed the exhibition both which is entitled 'NTT DoCoMo: New Vibes from Stefano Giovannoni - design for cellular phones'. Exhibits at the booth include presentations on a large screen together with displays of the four color versions of the phone.
