14 DAY TRIAL // They’ve been officially on hiatus since 2002 but that’s not to say all chances of seeing them together again, performing on the same stage, have gone to the dogs. NSYNC fans still have plenty of reasons to hold on to this hope, even if, right now, it might seem unlikely to ever materialize. One day, it will, Chris Kirkpatrick tells People magazine.
A couple of years back, when rumors of NSYNC coming back together again started to gain momentum in light of the Spice Girls reunion, word in the industry had it that it was Justin Timberlake who was the only one opposed to the idea. He, unlike the other guys in the band, had a very successful career ahead of him, which meant he could not risk losing credibility by doing the boyband thing again, it was said at the time.
The same could also apply now. The only difference is that, now, the idea of a reunion doesn’t seem as improbable as it did before, although it’s not for certain either, as Kirkpatrick underlines. “You never know what the future holds. Anything could happen. We’re all just being ourselves for a little while.” Kirkpatrick says. For him, that means fronting the pop / rock band Nigels 11 and getting involved in as many projects as he can.
Still, he wouldn’t pass on the chance of a reunion, but only on the condition that the timing be right. They wouldn’t want the world to think they’re doing it for other reasons than the love for their fans, as was the case not long ago with the Spice Girls. “I think when the stars are aligned, the time is right, and all five of us have our heads on straight and know the direction we’re going as a band, it’ll eventually happen. If not, I know we’ll be best friends forever.” Kirkpatrick explains.
And speaking of the Spice Girls, who, back in 2007, came together again for one last tour that saw them perform the hits that made them stars (and for this reason came under fire for doing it for the money), reports say they’re working on yet another reunion, as we also informed you. As of now, though, Victoria Beckham is said to be excluded from all plans since she doesn’t want to put her fashion career on hold to do music again.
