Vodafone Hutchinson Australia (VHA) is currently undergoing outsourcing on its network operations segment as well as a part of its equipment to Nokia Siemens Networks. The seven-year outsourcing agreement is designed to bring important service improvements for Vodafone's seven million customers located in Australia. The core, radio networks and transmission, as well as other important elements in Vodafone's mobile network will benefit from the included service management deal included in the contract. According to Nigel Dews, CEO VHA, apart from its cost efficiency, the agreement “is a significant step towards delivering an improved network experience for our customers.”

“We are delighted to be appointed by VHA to operate and manage network services end-to-end and to deliver an integrated core network,” Kalevi Kostiainen, head of Australia and New Zealand, Nokia Siemens Networks, added. “With our global expertise in managed services we are confident that we can further improve VHA’s overall network operations and services to its customers.”

NSN is undergoing massive transformations and is currently combining two organizations’ core networks. Additionally, the company also plans on expanding the home location register and mobile softswitch, in order to merge all of Vodafone's subscriber information into a single more efficient database. The collaboration with Vodafone Hutchinson Australia will allow NSN to undertake service management for some of VH's third-party providers. The network operations, business support systems and valued added data departments will also be transferred under Nokia's management.

According to Andy Reeves, chief technology officer within VHA, simplifying the core networks and the whole network management, as well as creating a single database for the company's subscriber information will bring the customer experience and satisfaction to a different level. The market's increasing demand for high-speed data transfers has determined Nokia to use its Flexi Network Gateway core platform in order to enlarge the network's capacity and at the same time meet customer satisfaction.
