The director of the US National Security Agency, General Keith Alexander, was supposed to hold a talk on September 10 at Masters in Security, a cyber security conference hosted in the Netherlands by telecoms company KPN.

However, according to KPN, the general will not attend the event because of “pressure on his agenda.”

The organizers of the conference are confident that the other important speakers – such as Europol’s head of cybercrime, Troels Oerting – will still make the event worth attending.

Regarding General Keith Alexander’s presence, one can only wonder whether this sudden decision has anything to do with the latest news regarding the NSA’s capabilities to decrypt any types of communications.

During the last Black Hat conference in Las Vegas, the NSA chief was booed by the audience when he tried to defend the intelligence agency’s controversial surveillance programs.
