Although the NPD Group has announced that it will no longer provide concrete sales data, the charts for the month of September are still being revealed, although we can now only rely on sales figures from the actual hardware manufacturers.

For the month of September, the Xbox 360 continues its surge, and for the fourth month in a row, has overtaken the Nintendo Wii and the PlayStation 3, at least according to Microsoft, which revealed that it sold 484,000 units across North America.

"Xbox 360 enters the holiday season with four consecutive months as the #1 console in the U.S.," a representative for Microsoft revealed. "With 484,000 units sold during the month, up 37% from last September, a stark comparison to the other console platforms."

The Xbox 360 also recorded bigger sales than in August, when it managed to shift 356,700 units in America.

According to NPD, sales for the Wii and PS3 were down compared to September of 2009, meaning that they sold less that 462,800 and 491,800 units, respectively.

Still, Sony, with the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable, has been recording better results on an average sales per week basis.

"A couple other platforms, specifically the PS3 and the PSP, are up on an average sales per week basis as compared to last month (August 2010)," Frazier said.

"Interestingly, the average retail price of hardware increased notably this month, driven primarily by the Xbox 360 Halo:Reach bundle and the PS3 Move bundle."

Overall hardware sales are still down as opposed to September of last year, from $3.57 billion to $3.09 billion.

Luckily, accessories sales have been on the rise, from last year's $159 million to a much healthier $180 million.

Seeing as how only Microsoft has revealed their concrete sales data at this moment, we will keep you informed on what numbers Sony and Nintendo will publish to the world.
