A 20-year-old man killing himself after firing at the ceiling at the Westfield Garden State Plaza Mall left a suicide note.

Police chased down the shooter on the 2 million sq ft (200,000 sq m) perimeter of the Westfield Garden State Plaza Mall in Paramus, Bergen County. He was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, behind the mall.

The note was found at his brother's home, police sources say, as reported by Daily Mail. The NJ Mall shooter was a drug addict who mostly consumed “Molly” (MDMA).

The International Business Times reports that Shoop has intended to commit suicide all along by opening fire at the mall.

"We believe the motive was suicide - either self inflicted, or, God forbid, suicide by cop," Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli says.
