One of the most interesting products that have been showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show last week in Las Vegas can be considered the NIMble Android Desktop Phone, a device that has been designed by Touch Revolution. From what we could learn from the news on the Web, it seems that the demonstrated Desktop Phone is not the final version of the handset.

Even so, the NIMble Android is reported to feature the Android OS, while Touch Revolution added its own software on top of the operating system so as to enable entertainment/media/home networking use of the device.

The new NIMble Android Desktop Phone comes with a 7″ multitouch screen that provides an 800×400 resolution. Moreover, the device is powered by a 624MHz Marvel processor, and other features include WiFi and Bluetooth capabilities, as well as support for SD cards via its memory expansion slot.

According to the news, the NIMble should become available in September this year, which means that by that time the developers should be able to eliminate any issues that might be present in the user interface of the device. The price of the NIMble Android Desktop Phone is expected to be placed in the $300 area, yet we might even see it come for free with a $10/$20 contract.

Another interesting fact about NIMble is connected to the developer team that worked on creating it. From what we've heard, one of the developers might be Mark Hamblin, who is known to have been the product design lead on the original iPhone touchscreen. This might suggest that the NIMble Android Desktop Phone could head our way with a responsive and very usable touchscreen.

Android fan-boys can consider NIMble a reason to rejoice. Knowing that you wished for an Android phone for your desktop, you should now be able to get your hands on one.
