Developer EA Sports has announced that it plans to make NHL 13 the most innovative game in the hockey simulation series since the 07 installment by introducing a new True Performance Skating system and by completely revamping the Artificial Intelligence of the game.

True Performance Skating will make all skating driven by physics and will add 1,000 new animations designed to simulate the skill and the speed that real-world players employ on the ice and to allow the gamer to have more control over how he handles both offensive and defensive situations.

The new EA SPORTS Hockey I.Q. will increase the abilities of the computer opponents players will have, allowing each computer-controlled player to be aware of all other men on the ice and goalies to reach to the movement of all those involved in an attack more rather than focusing on who controls the puck.

EA Sports will also enhance the NHL 13 experience with GM Connected, which will to be a GM mode online with support for up to 30 players while NHL Moments Live, which will deliver real world hockey situations for gamers to relieve in a virtual manner.

Dean Richards, who is the general manager in charge of the NHL franchise at EA Sports, stated, “The NHL team has been a leader when it comes to innovation in the sports videogame category on this console generation by redefining player control with the introduction of the Skill Stick, creating connected experiences such as the EA SPORTS Hockey League and introducing real world physics to the team sports category” says.”

He added, “With our feature set in NHL 13, hockey fans and sports gamers have a lot to be excited about as we are again going to deliver major innovations that will change the way you play the game.”

NHL 13 will be launched on September 11 in North America and three days late in Europe.

Sounds really good. Just need to fix a few minor things like the fighting. I like how you can have up to 5 per game and just about anyone will fight. However, what about when tensions overflow and a brawl happens? Why does everyone on the ice and bench disappear? The guys at EA are doing a great job with the NHL series. Ive had every copy since 1993 for Super Nintendo and they get better every year it seems like. The direction theyre taking it is awesome and with a few minor details looked at and implemented it will be AMAZING!!!!
