FIFA and Madden are two of the biggest sports franchises for publisher Electronic Arts but with the NBA Live series still apparently sidelined the company is also pushing NHL 13 as an important title for sports lovers and for those who have an inclination towards some fast action on the ice.

Dean Richards, who is the general manager of the NHL simulation franchise, has told the audience at Gamescom 2012 that, “NHL 13 is the biggest leap for the franchise.”

He then went on to talk about how the company has expanded the GM Connected mode to allow 750 players to join together in order to run an 30 team dynasty, which sounds like a dream feature for those players who want to take a real life situation then develop a deep simulation based on it.

Dean Richards was dressed in full hockey regalia as he offered details on the mechanics of the NHL 13 matches, with a new set of skating mechanics designed to allow the player to experience the speed, the momentum and the creativity that are associated with the best players in the world.

The new game is set to get more than 1,000 new animations, including one for backwards skating that the fan base has been requesting for a long time.

The new mechanics are designed with a hardcore audience in mind and will mean that the physicality of the game of hockey will be the real star of NHL 13.

A demo for the title will be introduced on the Xbox 360 home console from Microsoft on August 21 and those playing on the PlayStation 3 from Sony will have to wait one day to get access to it.

The game is expected to arrive on home consoles and on mobile devices on September 13 of this year.
