Video game developer EA Sports has announced that the upcoming NHL 13 will be the first professional league simulation video game in the genre that will include women athletes as playable without any input from the players.

Angela Ruggiero, a former Team United States player, and Hayley Wickenheiser, from Team Canada, will be available for all those who are interested in seeing how a female player fares on the ice.

Gamers will also be able to use the various options included in the Be a Pro mode to create their own female players, with their own customized characteristics.

EA Sports has also revealed that Doug Gilmour, Jari Kurri and Dominik Hasek, who are all part of the National Hockey League Hall of Fame will be featured in NHL 13.

The game will be launched on 11 in the United States and September 13 in Europe on the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.
