Great news for Need for Speed: Shift 2 Unleashed PC players, as Slightly Mad Studios, the developer of the game, and Electronic Arts, the publisher, have confirmed that the paid downloadable content released for the game on consoles will be released on the PC platform.

The Need for Speed franchise saw a resurrection in recent years, with EA, its owner, going to different developers and asking them to release new takes on the franchise, resulting in arcade racers like Hot Pursuit, or simulators like Shift or Shift 2 Unleashed.

For the last game, EA already released two pieces of full pledged downloadable content, in the form of the Legends Pack and the SpeedHunters one.

The DLC packs are currently available for consoles like the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, but, up until now, haven't received any sort of details about an appearance on the PC.

Thankfully for owners of Shift 2 Unleashed on that platform, the official Need for Speed Facebook and Twitter accounts have confirmed that the paid DLC is heading to the PC.

"For all our PC players, we just got official confirmation that the Shift 2 Unleashed paid DLC will be available on PC! More details coming as soon as we have them."

For those who weren't familiar with the downloadable packs, the Legends one brings a slew of classic sport cars, including the Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA (1965), Austin Mini Cooper S (1965), BMW 3.0 CSL Gr.5 (1975), Ford Capri RS3100 Gr.4 (1974), Ford Escort Mk1 RS1 600 (1971), Ford GT40 Mk1 (1965), Lotus Cortina Mk1 (1963), Jaguar E-Type Lightweight (1963), Nissan Fairlady 240ZG (S30) (1971), Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R (C10) (1972), Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 3.0 (1974), Porsche 914/6 GT (1970), Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe (1965).

Five classic tracks, in the form of the Dijon-Prenois (1972), Hockenheim (1982), Monza (1958), Rouen-Les-Essarts GP (1966), Rouen-Les-Essarts Short (1952), Silverstone (1975) are also included in the Legends pack.

The SpeedHunters pack includes 14 new powerful cars, including the Lexus LFA, McLaren MP4-12C or Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, all decked out in SpeedHunters liveries, as well as new tracks and two new racing events, in the form of the Drag and Standing Mile ones.

Expect more details about the arrival of this DLC for NFS: Shift 2 Unleashed on the PC later this week.
