It seems that Criterion Games and Electronic Arts, the developer and publisher, respectively, of the recent Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit racing game do care about PC owners, as they have just released a patch for the title, which includes three free cars.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit took EA's racing franchise back into the mainstream, featuring stunning graphics, glorious scenery and adrenaline-filled races and chases.

Sadly, at least after the release of the title, it seemed that the developer was only supporting the console versions of the game, delivering a lot of paid and free downloadable content for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Now, it seems that Criterion has turned its gaze to the PC platform, and is finally adding new cars to this version of the game.

The three free cars are the Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible, the Lamborghini Murciélago LP 650-4 Roadster and the Dodge Viper SRT10 Convertible Final Edition, which were already released for the console versions of the racing game.

Besides the cars, the new patch for NFS Hot Pursuit includes a few bug fixes and solves some issues noticed by players when in the game.

Changes: - Flickering graphics after Alt-Tabbing out of the game and back. - Controller configurations sometimes failing to save correctly. - Steering response dead-zone when playing with steering wheel controllers. - Player car engine audio volume too low. - Some issues with CPU performance. - Rare crash issue when entering the Career map screen.

Before you download the new patch, be warned that once you get it, you'll only be able to play online with those who also got the patch installed.

However, Autolog, the game's online service, will still deliver information about your friends that have yet to update their racing game to the new version.
