NFL star Chris Henry was admitted the other day to a hospital in North Carolina with “life threatening” injuries to the head that he had sustained during a domestic situation with his fiancée Loleini Tonga. He did not survive, TMZ says, passing away hours after being admitted. Henry was 26 and was in the middle of the preparation for the wedding with Tonga.

The accident occurred after the two got into a verbal dispute over the wedding expenses, reports in the US media say. Tonga reportedly got out of the house to avoid further confirmation, and Henry decided to follow her. He got into the bed of the pickup truck she was driving, fell and suffered severe trauma to the head. He died in hospital, and police are now investigating the case.

“NFL star Chris Henry has died as a result of the injuries he sustained after falling out of the back of a moving pickup truck yesterday. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police tell TMZ Henry died at 6:36 AM EST this morning. He was 26. As we previously reported, cops believe Henry – a wide receiver on the Cincinnati Bengals – jumped into the back of the truck, in an attempt to stop his fiancée from leaving a ‘domestic situation’ at her parents’ home in North Carolina. Henry was rushed to a local hospital – where he passed away this morning,” TMZ says.

As early as his admission to the hospital, it was believed that he had little to no chances of surviving. Someone close to the star was overheard telling someone at the hospital that “we don’t think he’s going to make it,” while Andy Simms, the Cincinnati Bengals agent, confirmed for the press that Henry was, indeed, in a very bad shape, as we also reported the other day. As noted above, police are now looking into the case to see whether charges should be made.

Chris Henry and his fiancée were getting ready for the wedding. The dispute that led to the accident supposedly started when they could not agree on the expenses, with Henry telling Tonga the deposit for the wedding photographs was too much for what they were willing to pay, it is being said.
