Currently, Samsung is ripping off the fruits of having one of the most appealing Android-based smartphones available on the market, the Samsung Galaxy S II, while gearing up for the release of new, highly-appealing devices for the near future.

One of them would be the NFC-enabled Samsung Galaxy S II model that was already rumored to arrive on shelves as an upgrade for the existing model.

We're not sure how that would pan out, since no other details on this device are available for the time being, but one thing that seems to have been confirmed would be the fact that it should sport the model number, I9101.

With Samsung already confirming the upcoming availability of this device on the market in the UK, all that it remains to be seen is when exactly would the new handset become available for purchase.

The main improvement that Samsung would pack with the device should be NFC (Near Field Communications) capabilities, through which users would be able to take advantage of recently launched mobile payment services.

Save for the NFC hardware, the new device would be similar with the Galaxy S II model that already landed on the market.

This means that there would be two Galaxy S II models on the market at the same time, though Samsung might have plans on having the initially launched Galaxy S II model upgraded as well, or replaced with the new version.

One way or the other, Samsung is clearly set to conquer the mobile segment with its new Android devices, and it already made the first moves in the area, with Galaxy S II outselling the iPhone 4 in certain markets around the world. The phone should arrive in the United States too in the near future, on the airwaves of all major carriers, and should be followed by a Galaxy S III device next year, which was only mentioned recently, but not detailed as of yet.
