NETGEAR has made available a new firmware package targeted at its WNDR3400v3 dual band router, namely version 1.0.0.38, which includes a few changes that improve the unit’s overall stability and usability.

Specifically speaking, this fresh update adds “No-IP” service to the Dynamic DNS (DDNS) function, resolves a problem that didn’t allow devices to log into the router’s administration page, and fixes the IP-related issues of the AP mode.

In addition to that, a GPL statement has been added to the firmware Web GUI page, the wireless repeater function (WDS) is now removed, and a new Telnetenable spec has been implemented.

Last but not least, the CVE-2013-3069, CVE-2013-3070 CVE-2013-3071, CVE-2013-3073, and Shadow File Blog problems are now resolved.

If you wish to install this version, get and extract the downloadable archive, log into the router’s administration page, go to Advanced tab → Administration → Firmware Upgrade → Browse, navigate and select the “WNDR3400v3-V1.0.0.38_1.0.40.chk” file, and then click the “Upload” button.

At this point, the update is transferred to the router and, when the upload is complete, the installation process is initiated.

As for some recommendations, since the wireless connection can be easily interrupted, it would be best if you performed the upgrade by connecting the computer and the router through an Ethernet cable.

That being said, download NETGEAR WNDR3400v3 Router Firmware 1.0.0.38, take into account all aforementioned aspects, apply the new update, and enjoy your newly-improved wireless device.
