Just now, NETGEAR has made available the new 1.0.3.80 firmware version compatible with its R7000 Nighthawk wireless router, which updates the NTFS driver and fixes the Readyshare file overwriting issues over Samba.

In addition to that, the new update resolves the Router hangs event encountered when receiving fragmented IPv6 packets, the Apple airplay feature that wouldn’t work after 2-3 days of uptime, as well as the Magic TV that would lose connection in certain situations.

With this in mind, if you consider applying this firmware, then log into the router’s administration page, go to the currently installed software version, and check if it isn’t either newer or matching this release.

If all is ok, save and unzip the downloadable archive, make sure the router is connected to the computer via an Ethernet cable, and go to Advanced > Administration > Firmware Upgrade.

Now click the “Browse” button, navigate and select the newly extracted .chk file, click upload, and agree with the next dialogs.

Bear in mind that during the installation you mustn’t power off the computer/router or remove the Ethernet/Power cable as this will cause serious device malfunctions. Also, don’t perform the upgrade over wireless, as this technology tends to disconnect randomly.

That being said, download NETGEAR R7000 Router Firmware 1.0.3.80, take into account all aforementioned aspects, apply the new version, and check our website as often as possible in order to stay up to speed with the latest releases.
