14 DAY TRIAL // NETGEAR has made available a new firmware update targeted at some of its ProSafe switches, namely version 2.0.1.17, compatible with the GS116Ev2, JGS524Ev2, JGS516PE, and JGS524PE devices, which can be applied regardless of the OS powering your computer.
When it comes to changes, the GS116Ev2 and JGS516PE-related software resolves an issue where “metr” and “andre123” passwords wouldn’t be recognized if changed using the Plus utility, therefore not allowing users to login to the switch.
In addition to that, the same package modifies the flow control settings, so now it’s disabled by default and adds online help support and registration pages to the web user interface.
As for the other two switches, their firmware changes the web GUI so that is now supports remote management over the Internet, and fixes a problem spotted when dynamic DHCP IP address is used where no renewal request is sent after a certain amount of time.
That being said, if your device has been encountering these issues and you intend to apply the latest update, then save and unzip the appropriate firmware for your switch, and log into the device’s administration page.
Now, go to the “Firmware Update” section, choose the “Browse” button, navigate and select the .bin file from within the newly created folder, and wait for the software to be applied.
