Today, NETGEAR has made available a new RAIDiator firmware package developed for ReadyNAS NV+ v2 and Duo v2 storage series, namely version 5.3.11, which resolves various ShellShock security vulnerabilities.

In addition to that, if version 5.3.11 is applied, the compatible devices will also benefit from fixes for problems regarding ADS domain logins over AFP encountered when logging in immediately after joining the domain.

When it comes to compatibility, this release is compatible with NETGEAR’s RND2000v2, RND2110v2, and RND2210v2 devices included in ReadyNAS Duo v2 series, as well as with RND4000v2, RND4210v2, and RND4410v2 units from the NV+ v2 storages.

As for upgrading to the latest firmware, save and extract the downloadable archive, copy the “RAIDiator-arm-5.3.11” file onto a formatted USB stick, and insert it into the network storage.

An important aspect that you should take into account is that applying a new firmware doesn’t modify your data in any way. However, it is recommended that all important files be backed up before initiating an upgrade – better safe than sorry.

Now connect to the NAS and go to Configure > System > Settings > Update, click the “Install Firmware” button, navigate and select the update file from the USB drive, and select “Upload.” Next click “Install” and finally allow the system to reboot in order to complete the update process.

With this in mind, from the links below, follow the one that best describes both the device series and the model name, familiarize yourself with all aforementioned steps, and upgrade your NAS to the latest firmware version.
