Motorola's new technology could cut prices on HDTV TV sets.

Motorola has announced that its experts have succeeded to produce in their laboratory a 5 inch display that employs NED Nano Emissive Display technology, its characteristics enabling it to display color movies.

If Motorola's technology proves
it can replace the current flat displays, then the prices of the HDTV TVS might record a drastic decrease.

In this moment, the CRT technology is not suitable because the size of the displays would be enormous; the LCD displays are too expensive and don't provide a sufficient viewing angle.

Motorola hopes it will be able manufacture 42 inch displays based on the new technology that won't exceed 400 dollars.

Since the changes required for the production lines are still unknown, it remains to be seen if the new technology will be adopted by HDTV TV producers.

Motorola has declared that is conducting discussions to patent the new technology and if the producers adopt it, the prices for HDTV TVs will decrease in approximately one year and a half.
