Over the last few months, the computer industry has been actively involved in the development of new technologies and products that would provide computer users with new devices that offer a more energy-efficient alternative to similar products that are already available on the market. On that note, NEC Display Solutions of America has just announced the introduction of three new desktop monitors, coming to complete the company's AccuSync Series. The new lineup includes two widescreen displays and a standard-aspect one, all of which have been designed to consume considerably less
than their predecessors, thus providing an alternative for environmentally conscious SMBs.
“NEC’s AccuSync Series has continually provided business users with the features they need to accomplish day-to-day work and the components that keep them up-to-date with the latest display technology,” said Lynn Gu, product manager for NEC Display Solutions. “These three new models carry on that long-standing tradition of dependable, high-quality and environmentally-responsible desktop monitors without the large price tag.”
According to NEC, the new 19-inch AS191, widescreen 19-inch AS191WM and the 22-inch widescreen AS221WM have all been designed to consume 48 percent less energy than their predecessors, with all models featuring EPEAT Silver rating, ENERGY STAR 5.0 and TCO 5.0 compliance and the company's own ECO Mode technology. The latter has been enabled to allow users to switch between two energy-saving modes. Additional features of the new AccuSync monitors include VGA and DVI connectivity, up to 1000:1 contrast ratio, 5ms response time, integrated multimedia speakers and support for touch integration.
The company claims that the AS221WM will start shipping this month, for an estimated US$249, while the AS191 and the AS191WM are both scheduled to begin shipping next month, for an estimated street price of US$199 and US$189, respectively.
