It uses the ControlSync technology to designate a master

NEC's MultiSync monitor series is pretty well known, but that doesn't mean it can't bring anything new to the table. Indeed, the new MultiSync EA274WMi has something fairly rare: propensity towards multi-monitor setups.

Technically speaking, all monitors can be set up in AMD Eyefinity or some other type of multi-monitor configuration, because it's the graphics adapter or display management card that does all the work.

NEC's MultiSync EA274WMi can change things though, through the ControlSync technology, which can allow a single monitor to control up to five others at the same time.

Basically, the performance attributes (like color saturation, gamma, brightness, etc.) of up to six EA274WMi displays can be controlled at the same time by designating one display as the master.

So you won't suffer from frustration due to imperfect calibration coordination or anything else of the sort.

The rest of the specifications are what one would expect of a 27-inch display, save for the resolution. Instead of Full HD, it's WQHD, 2569 x 1440 pixels.

For those who want more, here are the technical details: 20,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio (1000:1 typical CR), 350 cd/m2 brightness, 16:9 aspect ratio, two 1W integrated speakers, wide viewing angles (178°H/178°V, thanks to the IPS panel), and a stand with 130 mm height-adjust, tilt, swivel and pivot adjustment.

There's an integrated 4-port USB hub too (one upstream, four downstream, two USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0), plus four display inputs (DisplayPort, HDMI, DVI-D and VGA D-sub).

And on top of that, an ECO Mode exists, along with a carbon footprint meter, EPEAT Gold Certification, ENERGY STAR 6.0 and TCO 6.0 efficiency and environment-friendliness compliance.

All this, plus a 3-year warranty, ship in exchange for $799 / €595 – 799. DVI-D, VGA, power, audio, USB 3.0 and ControlSync cables are included in the box, plus a setup manual.
