Japanese mobile phone manufacturer NEC has recently presented the N902iL, a dual-network mobile phone that can easily switch between the FOMA network and wireless LAN.

As we have grown to expect, it comes in a clamshell form factor with the simple and clean cut design you always get to see in Asian mobiles.

The handset is fully compatible with mobile operator DoCoMo's Mobile Centrex services and can function as an IP-based extension phone, being a nice device to use both in the office and in one's spare time.

The PASSAGE Duple (meant for companies with a PBX) and IP Centrex services are being offered to assist customers in outsourcing a PBX. Due to its support for IEEE802.11g and IEEE802.11e the phone brings wireless LAN access at up to 54Mbps as well as better voice quality.

Features include a 2.5 inch 262k color screen with a QVGA+ resolution as well as a monochrome external screen, a built-in camera, full Web browser, PDF reader, bar-code reader and a MicroSD card slot for memory expansion.

Since it will be offered in Japan, it also includes some features that appear to be very useful for the customers living there, such as e-wallet capabilities, timecard, security ID, as well as other advanced security features like key operation lock, bio certification (face certification) and entrust the lock.

The NEC N702iL measures 106 x 51 x 25 and weighs 123 grams, which is pretty much your average for an Asian clamshell. It will be available through NTT DoCoMo and at the moment there is no information regarding its price.
