NEC is known, among other things, for creating and selling liquid crystal displays, as well as projectors, the latter portfolio being the one that just got landed with a new member.

When it comes to projectors, they range from the large, cinema-class to small ones, pico projectors being the most extreme minaturization of the concept.

In this case, NEC Display Solutions has created the PX75U, the newest addition to the PX series of projectors for large venues.

Houses of worship, higher education institutions, retail environments, corporations, etc. is where this device will best show its worth.

With a 7,500-lumens brightness (has a 6-segment color wheel), the dual-lamp product has a contrast ratio of 2,100:1, lamp life of 2,500 hours with ECO mode and connectivity via HDMI, DisplayPort, S-Video, composite and three computer inputs.

It also comes with password protection, a 1-chip DLP (1,920 x 1,200 WUXGA resolution), Open Pluggable Specification option slot (including an HD/SD SDI input card and SBC), center lens design (easy retrofitting) and an electronic lens shutter, plus stacking capabilities (up to four).

“The PX750U is the ultimate projector for customers requiring high brightness for large rooms, remote networking capabilities for ease in maintenance, and advanced connectivity for option cards and high-definition sources,” said Rich McPherson, Sr. Product Manager of projectors for NEC Display Solutions.

“We are very proud to offer an option slot in this product to increase our customers’ flexibility during installation. The amount of features integrated with the PX750U makes it an ideal solution for higher education lecture halls, training rooms and venues with a large amount of ambient lighting.”

NEC implemented a full set of six bayonet-style lenses with powdered zoom, focus and lens shift, with input resolution and selection determining, indirectly, the lens attributes, thanks to lens memory control.

September 2011 is when sales of the NEC PX750U will commence, with the estimated street price (without lens) being $14,999.
