NEC unveiled a significant number of displays already, but there is always room for more, especially when the newcomer is described as ultra-slim and capable of setting a new benchmark for the entire industry.

What NEC did was unveil its new range of monitors, intended for the corporate environment, which have both a high performance and eco-friendly build, according to their maker.

The first model in the collection goes by the name of MultiSynch EX231W and has a screen size of 23 inches.

It has a TB panel and a native resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, otherwise known as Full High-Definition (Full HD).

The monitor also utilizes W-LED backlights and has a contrast ratio of 1,000:1, which corresponds, in this case, to a DCR (dynamic contrast ratio) of 25,000:1.

There is also a response time of 5ms, an ambient light sensor and even a humans sensor, all meant to automatically adjust the intensity or turn the backlight on or off in order to save power.

What's more, NEC threw in one DVI and one DisplayPort output, as well as an USB port and a stand with swivel and tilt functionality.

As for the design itself, the main appealing elements are the aforementioned slim form factor and the narrow stand, a space efficiency which makes it easy to integrated in any environment.

"The NEC MultiSync range carries a tradition of superb image quality, innovation and reliability synonymous with the high MultiSync standard,” says Birgit Sommerer, Product Line Manager for Commercial Displays at NEC Display Solutions Europe.

“The EX series with its stunningly innovative product design and future-proof technology sets a new benchmark for the entire industry," Sommerer added.

The NEC MultiSync EX231W should become available in stores this month, October 2010, at a price of 359 Euro and accompanied by a three-year warranty.
