NEC's MultiSync E243WMi-BK Widescreen Monitor might be suited for businesses, but it can work as a consumer desktop screen just as well. The same can't be said about the AS172 though.

Launched at the same time as the other MultiSync panel, the AccuSync AS172 is a 17-inch, 5:4 monitor with a modest resolution of 1280 x 1024 pixels.

It also lacks HDMI or DisplayPort, connecting to systems only via VGA and DVI-D ports.

At least it has a stand that can tilt, even if it lacks the full mobility of the E243WMi-BK.

All in all, the AccuSync AS172 is a low-end monitor for businesses, although it still has its own high points, like the power manager (IPM) system and off timer (saves energy and reduces CO2 emissions). The price of the monitor will be $149 / €110 when sales start later this month (February 2014).
