Instead of releasing yet another monitor or two that focus on performance before everything else, NEC decided to, instead, create a pair of displays that place a stronger emphasis on environment friendliness, their names being MultiSync EA192M and MultiSync E201W.

The MultiSync EA192M and MultiSync E201W, as their names imply, have screens with diagonals of 19 and 20 inches, respectively.

They are both liquid crystal displays (LCDs) which achieve a good degree of energy efficiency through two main assets.

One is the use of LED backlighting technology, which is much less power hungry than CCFL (cold cathode fluorescent lights).

The second main feature that boosts power efficiency is the ambient light sensor, which automatically adjusts screen brightness.

There are several other things that the two new LCD monitors have in common, such as the response time of 5 ms and the brightness of 250 cd/m2.

What's more, the siblings even come designed with panels boasting the dynamic contrast ratio of 25,000:1, plus the same kind of stand that can swivel, tilt and pivot, as well as adjust the height (modification of up to 110mm).

The main distinctive feature between the two MultiSync monitors is, besides their screen sizes, the resolutions.

The E201W settles for 1,600 x 900, while the EA192M comes with 1,280 x 1,024 pixels, with the added bonus of down-firing speakers and headphone jack.

Other specifications shared by them include a Carbon footprint meter and cost meter, DVI and D-Sub connectors and casings made out of recycled plastics.

NEC provides three-year warranties and has already priced the 19-inch display at $199, while the 20-inch monitor sells for $239.

All in all, these products should most appeal to those consumers and business users that are mindful of the environment and seek to both make a smaller impact and benefit from smaller power bills.
