NEC decided it was time for an image quality upgrade on some of its displays, so it created the SpectraSensor pro colorimeter.
Available now, it has a street price estimated at $199, which more or less translates into
141.75 Euro. It has a 1-year limited warranty as well.
In fact, NEC will start integrating the new colorimeter into its monitors, like LCD2090UXI-BK-SV, LCD2190UXi-BK-SV, P221W-BK-SV, P241W-BK-SV, PA231W-BK-SV, PA241W-BK-SV, PA271W-BK-SV, PA301W-BK-SV.
Confusing and hard to remember names aside, these monitors will benefit from a higher degree of color accuracy, among other things.
In fact, if one were to list all the capabilities of the NEC SpectraViewII colorimeter, said list would include an 'intelligent' form factor, a higher sensitivity and better measurement speed (five times greater compared to predecessors).
This is all due to the X-Rite i1Display technology and the completely new optical system that NEC chose and should benefit all sorts of panels, regardless of type (LED, white LED, RGB LED, CCFL, wide-gamut, etc.).
“The color accuracy and speed of the new SpectraSensor Pro provides our professional desktop customers with the best calibration performance available,” said Art Marshall, product manager at NEC Display Solutions.
“The accuracy of the colorimeter and software, coupled with NEC’s renowned MultiSync professional desktop products, is ideal for photography, retouching, video editing and any application where precise color is critical.”
NEC launched the colorimeter alongside an updated version of the
SpectraViewII software.
The company will start shipping it either in a bundle with this software or with one of the aforementioned SpectraViewII displays.
NEC has been doing a variety of less than ordinary things on the display and video industry lately, like
giving integrated tuners to V-Series commercial displays, creating the
Tele Scouter head mounted camera and generally straying from the norm in one way or another even when launching what might seem to be common devices.
