NEC recently expanded its monitor lineup with a new 24-inch value-driven model from the AccuSync series, specially designed to fit the needs of small-to-medium-sized businesses, schools and government offices.

Dubbed the AS241W, this new 24-inch monitor joins the AS171, AS192, AS191WM and AS221WM displays in NEC’s AccuSync series, offering pretty much the same specs as its predecessors.

At the heart of this new display stands an LED backlit 1920x1080 resolution TN panel, which has a 1000:1 typical contrast ratio and 300cd/m² brightness.

While TN panels can’t reproduce colors so accurately or provide the same improved viewing angles as their IPS counterparts, these have the benefit of costing a great deal less, which is definitely a plus for SMBs.

The rest of the AS241W features include a 5ms response time, tilt adjustment, and compliance with a wide series of environmental standard, while for video input duties NEC installed both a DVI-D and a VGA port.

An energy saving ECO Mode rounds up the specs list, enabling users to toggle between pre-configured brightness settings that NEC says help reduce power consumption, heat generation and also extend the life of the AS241W.

“The AS241W is our first 24-inch 16:9 display in the AccuSync family, a popular size with the great features our SMB customers need for daily tasks,” said Lynn Gu, product manager at NEC Display Solutions.

“Many customers have moved to wide-format screens because of their ability to allow the viewing of multiple applications simultaneously. This practice is proven to increase productivity in the workplace,” concluded the company’s rep.

The AccuSync AS241W ships with a 3-year limited parts and labor warranty and will be available in February 2012, at an estimated street price of $239.
