Escrow and assurance services provider NCC Group has acquired Intrepidus Group – an organization which focuses its efforts on mobile security research – for an amount that could total up to $11M (€8.9M) in cash.

With this acquisition, NCC wants to complement its existing capabilities and reinforce its position on the market.

“Intrepidus is a highly respected business with an extremely strong presence in the rapidly growing mobile telecommunications sector,” NCC Group Chief Executive Rob Cotton said.

“This acquisition is an important strategic development for us as it considerably widens our range of offerings, as well as industry IP, and brings a number of new blue chip technology customers.”

This isn’t the first security company acquired by NCC Group this month. At the beginning of August the organization announced that it purchased Matasano Security LLC, a firm that specializes in research and penetration testing.

Now, NCC has the largest testing team in New York.
