Soon after its 2006 release, “Heroes” went on to become one of the most successful TV series out there, with millions of fans eagerly waiting for the next episode. Now, top NBC officials are confirming that the show is going to get a sequel called “Heroes: Reborn.”

The Hollywood Reporter quotes NBC entertainment president Jennifer Salke who says, “The enormous impact 'Heroes' had on the television landscape when it first launched in 2006 was eye-opening. Shows with [this] kind of resonance don't come around often and we thought it was time for another installment.”

She revealed that the show's original creator, Tim Kring, would be returning to work on the project, and she also hinted that some of the original cast members were also going to be making an appearance. Fan favorites such as Hayden Panettiere and Milo Ventimiglia remain only speculations at this point.

The release date of the new series has been announced as 2015, and the producers warned that they were looking to keep the production “shrouded in secrecy.”

“Heroes” did indeed enjoy good ratings upon its 2006 release but was canceled in 2010 as they began to drop, mainly because of a muddled storyline.
