NBC is reacting to reports claiming that it’s been negotiating with Casey Anthony’s attorney to get her to do her first post-trial interview, and that it has offered her a lot of money to do it. However, that isn’t to say that NBC won’t pay Anthony for the exclusivity, claims a new report. As we also noted the other day, Anthony’s legal representative has been meeting with major networks to discuss financial arrangements for her first interview after the trial that saw her acquitted of the murder of her 2-year-old daughter Caylee.
According to reports, NBC, ABC and CBS are all throwing money at Anthony for the exclusive, even though all three claim that this is not standard procedure. NBC has issued a statement to TMZ to deny ever offering Anthony money for the interview. “We’ve talked with [Anthony’s attorney, Jose] Baez about getting an interview with Casey Anthony, but only under NBC News standards and conditions – no payment, and absolutely no job offers for any member of her defense team,” a statement from the network reads. Even though the network says that it won’t pay Anthony for the interview, that doesn’t mean that she will not be making money from it, one way or another, the aforementioned e-zine points out. It’s all a question of semantics, TMZ underlines. “Read carefully – NBC is saying ‘no payment,’ but it refers to an ‘interview.’ That doesn’t cover paying huge money for pictures, video, etc.,” TMZ writes. “That’s S.O.P. in the network game – and we’re told that’s one of the issues [Mark] Geragos covered with Baez,” the e-zine adds. Reportedly, Geragos, a high-power attorney well versed in this type of negotiations, met with Baez at his hotel room, which NBC is paying for, to instruct him on how to conduct the talks for the interview and what conditions to set for it to happen, as we also informed you yesterday. Since springing out of jail, Anthony has not made any public appearance – and it is believed she will only emerge for the explosive television interview.

| Comment #1 by: Barb on 25 Jul 2011, 11:45 UTC | reply to this comment | Why would anyone even talk to her, will it be the truth or not, probley not, so why bother and listen to more of her lies. |
| Comment #1.1 by: conni on 27 Jul 2011, 20:51 GMT | She has no right to speak...she could have done that by testifying in court and chose not to. What does she have to say that anyone would or could believe..? I know she is guilty and I think the whole world does too. I just want her to go away..quietly! I am sure that will not happen though. All that is important to these people is money. All of them....including the whole family and attorneys, and this is how we have to get our justice. Thru boycotting to make sure that the pressure is great enough and the heat is high enough that no one chooses to pay money to anyone for interviews, pictures, stories, videos, articles, books, movies, etc. ANYTHING is the only way now that America can feel better about this and feel justice for Caylee is possible. |
| Comment #1.2 by: cat on 27 Jul 2011, 21:05 GMT | No child should ever die to have people make money. No business or individuals should ever profit through the death of a child. Shame on anyone that does. |
| Comment #2 by: Tanya on 25 Jul 2011, 11:50 UTC | reply to this comment | I believe that this woman got away with murder because she showed no tears in the court room and know she is out walking the street she needs to be behind bars any mother that kills her child or her children needs to be behind bars they need to be killed just like they killed their child or children |
| Comment #3 by: 1969tiger on 25 Jul 2011, 15:42 UTC | reply to this comment | I think it is horribly offensive that this woman would even entertain the idea of making money off of her poor, dead daughter! Shame on her!
If she gets paid, the money should immediately go into a foundation to help other missing children and in no way, shape or form should it benefit Casey Anthony! |
| Comment #4 by: Unknown on 25 Jul 2011, 17:26 UTC | reply to this comment | Why would any legitimate news station want to interview her? All it will be is more lies. Don't give her the satisfaction of being the center of attention once again. |
| Comment #5 by: NANASHARON on 25 Jul 2011, 18:09 UTC | reply to this comment | I WON'T BE WATCHING ANY INTERVIEWS ON ANY STATION BY CASEY ANTHONY. SHE COULDN'T TELL THE TRUTH WHEN IT WAS VITAL EARLY IN THIS CASE; I DON'T BELIEVE SHE CAN NOW. IT WILL BE THE PROVERBIAL MEDIA CIRCUS AND WILL SERVE NO REAL PURPOSE BUT TO BOOST RATINGS... |
| Comment #6 by: forourchildren on 25 Jul 2011, 19:13 UTC | reply to this comment | any news organization who interviews her will only get lies and a fake interview anyway. we as a society need to start sending a message to those that hurt, abuse and murder children. who cares what she has to say...we need to send a LOUD message that she is not accepted in a civil society. |
| Comment #7 by: sadie on 25 Jul 2011, 19:24 UTC | reply to this comment | why would anyone want to watch??? Will she tell the truth? No! Will she say where her precious daugher was while she was out parting or for the 31 days she was with the nanny? NO! It will be like her trial Jose Baez smoke and mirrors !!!!! What she will do is lie not answer any of the tuff questions, and Biaz will make a fool of us again.. Our system has to make some changes so the true victims have faith again...Maybe she should donate all her monies to a childrens hospital and go back to Universal Studio and work!!!!!!!!!!! |
| Comment #10 by: raspberry on 27 Jul 2011, 01:03 UTC | reply to this comment | I will never watch NBC ever again if they give Casey any money for a interview.. for her to make any money on the death of this poor child that was dumped in the woods like trash...it makes me sick..boycot NBC..that goes for any network that will pay money to this women..is so wrong.. |
| Comment #11 by: me on 27 Jul 2011, 14:01 UTC | reply to this comment | Keep boycotting NBC...Remove it from channel lists on all tv's and vcr's |
| Comment #11.1 by: Pat on 27 Jul 2011, 17:01 GMT | DONE!!!!!! If she is not the guilty party in the death of Caylee. Why not now, as a free woman, is she not pounding the pavement and riding the police and investigators day and night to find the real perpetrator. Any TRUE mother would be doing that and would have been doing that all along even from jail. She LIES pure and simple. God blessed her with a beautiful baby girl but only for a short time, he took her home. It was in his plan, there is a lesson we, and she, should all be learning here. God does all things for a reason. I cannot keep up with all the anti-Casey sights but, you can bet your bottom dollar that ANY entity, no matter what their specialty in reaching the public may be, will NEVER be utilized by me again. I DON'T CARE IF THEY PAY HER OR NOT. Let her walk the streets like the rest of us. She feels like a celebrity of sorts, being rushed here and hidden there. If she acted the least bit appropriate for a mother who has had her child taken from the earth in such a vile manner, I don't think the mere thought of her would cause those of us who find her revolting to be so negatively affected. I am finished with all things Casey Anthony. I feel for her parents, I don't know how they are coping with the loss of that beautiful grandbaby. As for lying for Casey and such that is a mother's love, not something I would do at all but, each makes their own decision. I don't hate any one of these people involved with this fiasco. They are God's children and they may live the "Bella Vita" here on earth, but on judgement day when they face their Maker all will be known you can't hide from God, and you can't lie to God, and you can't fool God with fake tears, He knows all and sees all. Final punishment will be rendered at that time. I thank God every day for all he has given me and all he has taken away. I know what is in my heart and I am comfortable with it all. I know that Caylee is with Jesus and has no pain, or worries and that gives me peace. |
| Comment #11.2 by: cat on 27 Jul 2011, 21:21 GMT | Caylee Anthony was only 2. She didnt get a chance to live her life. Why should anyone benefit from her death or anyone elses. Especially the people who Caylee trusted the most.
Every one of them let her down drastically. NBC you and every other owe Caylee to do whats right. DONT pay blood money to anyone for pics, video, interviews or you are as guilty at letting this poor child down. |
| Comment #12 by: Cheryl Mac on 27 Jul 2011, 15:17 UTC | reply to this comment | They will pay for pics, etc. They are not fooling anyone. I will never watch NBC again until they say NO BLOOD MONEY off Caylee. |
| Comment #13 by: Birds of a feather on 27 Jul 2011, 18:13 UTC | reply to this comment | The reason we watched the trial is because somone in this lying family was responsible for the demise of this poor child and we wantd to see justice done, at least for the child abuse. Hiding missing child for 30 days. Someone should be held responsible. Putting this despicable family on TV and watching them reap rewards for dastardly deeds is something else. That is a BOYCOTT of the TV station and all of the products for that segment. |
| Comment #14 by: Kathleen on 27 Jul 2011, 19:29 UTC | reply to this comment | I respect TMZ over any of them! Although, I know given the chance they too would welcome any profit from the procurement of pictures, video, or interview as well. My wish is that everyone would STOP giving the group of bloodsucking demons any attention - maybe they will just all go away! The damage that will come from all of this attention will be far greater than any reward! |
| Comment #15 by: conni on 27 Jul 2011, 20:21 UTC | reply to this comment | will they say no payment of any kind for any interview, pictures, videos, statements, etc...anything at all to do with the Anthony group of money grabbers? Will they give us that promise? If so, then we might back off...might. |
| Comment #16 by: Boycotter on 27 Jul 2011, 20:34 UTC | reply to this comment | NBC stands for NEVER BELEIVE CASEY! You wand any other media will be boycotted by my family and friends across the U.S. and other countries. We will make sure to spread the word to boycott you and any other media that will scoop as low as the Anthony's to get their interview. This people were nobodys and after this poor little girl's murder they became known....We want them to go back to being unknown they cause disgust like a child molester would. |
| Comment #17 by: angeltakenfromus on 27 Jul 2011, 21:11 UTC | reply to this comment | Are the networks so desperate for news that they are willing to consider talking to this woman who has proven BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT that she lies...about everything? Have they taken a look at how many other things in this country are much more important? Seriously, watching ants build a mound would be 100 times better than watching Casey Anthony. I have no interest in what she has to say, nor do I care where she is. Just IGNORE HER. Interview her the next time she gets arrested. I will not waste my time watching NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX, HLN or CNN anymore. It's the new America, we have that right to decide what we want you to air...OFFICIALLY BOYCOTTED. |
| Comment #18 by: g-ma on 27 Jul 2011, 21:38 UTC | reply to this comment | NBC...don't do it unless you too want blood on your hands. Your viewers will NOT believe that she (and especially her attorney$) would not do it for money . We are not $tupid!!! There are many people already soliciting out there for boycotters...I will be one of them...she had her say in court we don't care about what she has to say nor would we believe anything she has to say. |
| Comment #19 by: Jesse on 28 Jul 2011, 04:23 UTC | reply to this comment | NBC is disgusting!!! If they do interview her she is receiving money from them in some form. Why would she do it for free? She deserves no money and to live the rest of her life in exile and humiliation!!!! |
| Comment #20 by: Justice on 28 Jul 2011, 10:38 UTC | reply to this comment | We will boycott NBC and sponsors. Justice For Cayle!!!
Very offensive that NBC claims "only under NBC News standards and conditions – no payment, and absolutely no job offers for any member of her defense team,” |
| Comment #21 by: Justice on 28 Jul 2011, 10:40 UTC | reply to this comment | Will Boycott NBC and Sponsors!!!
Justice For Cayle!!! |
| Comment #22 by: Rowene on 28 Jul 2011, 20:18 UTC | reply to this comment | I can do something to honor Caylee, and that is to BOYCOTT any network, company, sponsorship, etc. that interviews that horrible woman that called herself a mother. Paid or not paid, it doesn't matter. She had the chance to talk and she pleaded the 5th. Why allow her to talk now? She lied, she will continue to lie, and her own attorney called her a liar. Not newsworthy at all. A real mother doesn't party after the death of her child...a real mother sheds tons of tears over the death of her child, and a real mother does everything they can to help find their child. Liar = Guilt.
I realize that her attorneys had a job to do, I don't respect it, but i understand it, and their job is now over. They have to answer to a higher calling someday as well. I will not contribute to making those so called lawyers any richer, so don't interview them either.
Networks....how about making a moral decision for a change, rather than a decision based on making more $$ or glamorizing SCUM. We all have to answer to a higher power, and that includes you!! Help us, the people, honor this child. |
| Comment #23 by: PandaP1 on 28 Jul 2011, 23:02 UTC | reply to this comment | I will boycott my favorite station and their sponsors or any paper, tv station, etc. that spends money for interviews on this murderer or her attorneys looking for more advertising time. She has had her more than 15 minutes of fame due to killing her daughter. Furthering her time in front of the camera while she laughs and mocks the judicial system is a gross injustice to our society. I'm sure there are more well deserving cases that need attention to find the criminals of horrendous acts. Now NBC sinking to the ranks of Springer, Maury, etc. If so, I'll be watching another station. VIA BLOGGERS WORDS AND MYSELF ! |
| Comment #24 by: NotaCayceeFan on 30 Jul 2011, 17:24 UTC | reply to this comment | This woman murdered her child. Just because they can't prove how she did it because she let her childs remains rot almost beyond recognition while she slept in her cozy bed and partied ,living in her own words "a beautiful life" is the creepiest, monstrous thing I've ever heard of. Just look at her face during that trail. She never mourned that child, but she sure cries at the end when her defense team told her to obviouly show emotion. I'm surprised by the amount of male admirers, however, when you think about it they are even nuttier than she is.She did what she did all because she wanted freedom. Ironicly she recieved it, in a way. It's sort of like she make a pack with the Devil. She's free, but is she REALLY... Anyone who makes blood money from Caylees death with, interviews, books, movies should be boycotted. There are other channels besides ABC,CBS,NBC lets watch them or better yet take our children to the park or playground not only to honor Caylees memory but because we can...If no other good come from this tragedy, lets at least become more attentive family members ourselves, protect and nurture your children they are your greatest asset.....I will BOYCOTT not only the network but any sponsors that advertise that program. I can't do it alone we need to do it as a team effort. |
