NBC has just confirmed what pretty much everyone and their mama knew: Jay Leno is leaving The Tonight Show and Jimmy Fallon will take over hosting duties from him, Deadline reports.

The switch will take place in spring 2014 so fans of Leno still have many months to come to terms with the reality of it.

Another rumor that NBC has confirmed is that Tonight will go back to New York, which first emerged online last month.

“As part of the transition, The Tonight Show will be returning to its original home in 30 Rock in New York and will be executive-produced by Emmy Award winner Lorne Michaels (Saturday Night Live, 30 Rock),” Deadline says.

Said Leno of the switch: “Congratulations Jimmy. I hope you’re as lucky as me and hold on to the job until you’re the old guy. If you need me, I’ll be at the garage.”
