Shortly after CNN announced the upcoming availability of its news application for Windows Phone devices, NBC made headlines with its NBC app for Google’s Android platform.

However, the latter has already published the application in the Android Market, while CNN’s app should hit Marketplace in the following weeks.

NBC app provides access to various shows and videos, including highlights, previews and episode recaps. In addition, users will also have access to exclusive photo galleries, interactive games and trivia. According to NBC, users will have access to full episodes in the near future.

Although the developers state that the NBC app runs well on any device with Android 2.2 Froyo or higher, it appears that only a few devices have been confirmed for the moment.

NBC app is available as a free download via Android Market and is fully compatible with the following smartphones: Nexus One, Nexus S, Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Samsung Galaxy S II, HTC Evo 4G, HTC Evo 3D, HTC myTouch 4G, HTC Droid Incredible, Motorola Droid and the Motorola Droid X.
