Michael Pachter, an analyst working for Wedbush Morgan, says that in the near future, video game publisher Electronic Arts will probably cancel the NBA and the NHL simulation titles in order to streamline its future slate of projects.

NBA Live has been re-launched in late 2013 using the new Ignite engine, but the fan community was unsatisfied with what the game had to offer and the developers were forced to issue an apology over its quality.

NHL continues to receive early sales, but it does not have the same market impact as Madden NFL and FIFA, the most important franchises in side EA Sports.

Pachter tells VG247 that, “The business is positioned to be a lot more profitable this year, and I expect the next generation console launches to allow the industry to see sales growth next year.”

In order to take advantage of the growth, EA needs to streamline its launch schedule.
