The development team at EA Sports needs to deliver a high quality product with NBA Live 15 in order to erase the memories basketball sim fans have of the past failures of the franchise, and today the company aims to show how the various offensive elements of the title have been improved.

The official blog post says that the Artificial Intelligence of all the players on the court has been enhanced in order to allow them to deal with various plays and moves in better ways.

The developers explain, “In NBA Live 14, teammates were often slow to respond on fast break opportunities, and their overall positioning would be off. This year, we’ve improved the AI to run a proper fast break by filling their proper lanes.”

For pick and rolls, a new system is being introduced in NBA Live 15 to show the gamer if the players will pick, pop or roll to the rim in the next few seconds.

The playcalling element of the basketball sim has also been overhauled, with just one button now required to call action plays and to direct their team.

EA Sports adds, “NBA Live 15 includes a new Shot Feedback system that gives you insight into two things: Shot Timing and Shot Quality. Shot Timing is displayed in the top left corner of the screen as either Early, Slightly Early, Great, Slightly Late, or Late. You want to release your shot at the top of your player’s shooting animation for the best result.”

A new feature also allows gamers to see how good a particular player is at shooting from various locations on the court, with more bars appearing as his ability to score increases.

A green meter shows open looks, and yellow and red means that he is currently guarded.

NBA Live 15 versus NBA 2K15

The new NBA Live 15 title needs to offer such a quality experience that fans abandon NBA 2K15, from Visual Concepts and 2K Games, in order to return to the series that was at one point forced to outright cancel a release because of quality issues.

EA Sports claims that the new engine and the focus on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 has allowed the team to offer increased realism, better player animations and more impressive plays.

NBA Live 15 will be out on October 28 in North America and three days later in Europe.
